Univision Deportes’ coverage of the Liga MX final was the circuit’s top telecast ever among viewers and TV’s best among key demos.
Univision’s presentation of America’s win over Cruz Azul on May 26 averaged 4.5 million viewers, according to Nielsen data. The final was the highest-rated Liga MX match on any network ever among viewers.
Airing live from Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, Mexico on May 26 from 8:50 p.m. to 11:46 p.m. (ET), the Liga MX final was Sunday’s highest rated primetime program, regardless of language, on all of broadcast television with 2.6 million persons 18 to 49 and 1.3 million persons 18 to 34. The match also helped make Univision the No. 1 broadcast network in primetime with the 18-to-34 set, beating ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC.
In addition to drawing the largest Liga MX audience, the match also was circuit’s third highest- rated Liga MX match on any network among adults 18 to 49, trailing the America vs. Chivas SuperClasico on Univision that aired on March 18, 2007 and the Pumas vs. Chivas final on Univision on June 13, 2004.
