TVGN has acquired the exclusive cable rights to the daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, its first programming announcement as part of the new CBS /Lionsgate partnership.
The former TV Guide Network will begin airing the episodes from the soap opera this summer, day and date with the daily episodes’ premiere on CBS, according to network officials. The series moves from SoapNet, but TVGN will continue to air the show in its current 7 p.m. time slot. The 40-year old series has been SoapNet’s top rated soap opera for five consecutive years, according to network officials.
Last month CBS purchased a 50% interest in TVGN parent TV Guide from JP Morgan’s One Equity Partners for an undisclosed sum, joining Lionsgate in ownership of the company.
