HGTV Tuesday announced it will unveil four new real estate series in the New Year designed to give viewers new ideas and tips on how to buy, sell and improve the value of their homes in today’s lousy economy.
Network officials said viewers also will learn how to raise extra cash by creating rental spaces in their homes and get savvy suggestions from a successful realtor who is thriving in the challenging real estate market.
In addition to the new series, viewers can visit HGTV.com/realestate to find the latest real estate advice. The site also will offer interactive content, video recaps of the series and helpful articles.
“In this difficult real estate market, we will continue to provide the best information on television about how to maintain and increase the value of your home,” Freddy James, HGTV’s senior vice president of program development and production, said in a statement.
All four of the following new series debut in the New Year:
The Unsellables, premieres on Thursday, Jan. 1 at 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. ET. The series features property guru and British TV personality Sofie Allsopp, along with contractor Anthony Sayers, showing viewers how to tackle cluttered kitchens, messy bedrooms and outdated design to create real estate gems out of homes considered “unsellable.”
She advises home sellers on the smartest solutions for their homes and makeovers that make sense, but also will help raise the asking price. In addition, Sofie will offer homeowners practical tips on how to increase the “wow” factor for potential buyers.
Desperate To Buy debuts Thursday, Jan. 1 at 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. ET. The new docu-drama follows desperate homebuyers and their real estate broker through the high-stress process of finding the perfect home fast. Beginning with narrowing down the choices to the best final three homes, viewers will follow along as the anxious homebuyers navigate their way through the tenuous real estate world.
Income Property, which kicks off on Thursday, Jan. 1 at 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET, will be hosted by renovation expert Scott McGillivray who will try to help homeowners with high mortgage payments and low cash flow create “rental suites” in their homes as a way to help cut monthly expenses. Each episode will follow the drama as homeowners transform their unused rooms, unfinished basements or garage apartments into beautiful rental spaces.
The Property Shop will premiere on Thursday, Jan. 1 at 10 p.m. ET and let viewers watch as realtor-turned-broker Tatiana Londono competes head-to-head with major real estate agencies to rise to the top of the real estate world. Viewers will watch as Tatiana works the deals that her agency depends on to succeed. Tatiana’s quest for success makes for exciting and unexpected real estate chaos that will take viewers into the life of a dynamic and driven woman who wants it all—and won’t stop until she gets it, network officials said.
