The season-one finale of Hallmark Channel’s first original series outperformed its rookie run’s delivery.
The first-season concluder of Cedar Cove averaged a 2.2 household rating and 2.36 million viewers on Oct. 12, according to Nielsen data. That was down, though, from the 2.6 million for its premiere as a two-hour backdoor pilot on July 20.
The closing episode at 8 p.m. was the highest-rated premiere of the season among women 25 to 54 and adults 25 to 54 delivery, and ranked as the top program on cable for Saturday (outside of sports). Over its 13-week run, Cedar Cove, starring Andie MacDowell and Dylan Neal, averaged a 2.0 household rating. That made Hallmark Channel the top cable network in the Saturday 8-9pm time period, according to network officials. Cedar Cove, based on the Debbie Macomber books, will return for a second campaign next year.
Following the Cedar Cove season finale, the premiere of Signed, Sealed, Delivered averaged a 1.5 rating and 1.72 million. Serving as the backdoor pilot for Hallmark Channel’s upcoming scripted series, the telefilm ranked as the top cable movie on Saturday and was the No. 2 movie of the week. It will join the network’s slate next year.
