Post Type:press-releases Verizon Selects Viamedia to Sell Local Advertising for FiOS TV | Viamedia

BOSTON, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ — Verizon announced Tuesday (Feb. 20) that it has selected Viamedia as its representative for local and regional advertising sales for Verizon FiOS TV. This is the first of several Verizon initiatives to generate advertising revenue from Verizon’s fiber-optic television service.

Viamedia, the cable industry’s leading independent cable rep firm, is now selling local advertising for Verizon in the Boston market and in other markets where Verizon provides FiOS TV service. Those markets are Dallas, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Washington, New York, Philadelphia, Tampa, Norfolk and Richmond.

“FiOS TV gives advertisers a new way to connect with the Boston market’s most sought-after viewers,” said Jason Malamud, vice president and general manager of Verizon FiOS Media. “FiOS TV customers are savvy, engaged and eager for new viewing experiences. Viamedia can show local business owners how they can reach these audiences with FiOS TV.”

Verizon expects to begin local advertising on FiOS TV in the Boston market and most other markets by the end of the first quarter. The company has begun a phased rollout of Verizon ads on FiOS TV leading up to the local-advertising launch.

FiOS TV delivers a true choice for subscription television and on-demand programming, Malamud said. Verizon is providing FiOS services on the nation’s most advanced digital all-fiber-optic network. Only this network has earned the certification of the independent Fiber to the Home Council for providing fiber all the way to customers’ homes.

Verizon, which plans to have customers in 3 million to 4 million homes by 2010, said FiOS TV offers a better-quality picture, more high-definition and on-demand programs, and more reliable service at competitive prices.

In Massachusetts, Verizon currently offers FiOS TV in Acton, Andover, Belmont, Boxborough, Boxford, Burlington, Dedham, Franklin, Georgetown, Hamilton, Hopkinton, Ipswich, Lexington, Lincoln, Littleton, Lynn, Lynnfield, Marlborough, Nahant, Natick, Needham, Newton, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Swampscott, Tewksbury, Topsfield, Tyngsborough, Wakefield, Wellesley, Wenham, West Newbury, Winchester and Woburn.

Malamud said local ad inserts are the first of several advertising initiatives planned for FiOS TV. He is developing programs for targeted, interactive and measurable ad campaigns across Verizon FiOS TV and IP- delivered video-on-demand; and via broadband video on Verizon Web sites.
