Comedy Central is tripling down on Tosh.0. The cable network announced Tuesday that it has ordered three additional seasons of the weekly show, keeping it on the air through at least 2016.
“We believe Tosh.0 has the potential to resonate with our audience, and we want to give it time to connect.” said Comedy Central president of content development and original programming Kent Alterman.
Currently in its fifth season, number six of Tosh.0, a 30-episode order, is set to premiere Feb. 18. The renewal is for seasons six, seven and eight.
“I am extremely fortunate and very grateful that I can continue to work with such fun and talented people on a very supportive network,” added star and creator Daniel Tosh. “Sorry for the lack of snark – I will leave that open for the comments section.”
Tosh.0 has been a ratings boon to Comedy Central. Four years in, it ranks as the top entertainment series across all of TV among men 18-24 on Tuesday nights. It’s averaging a robust 3.0 million viewers and a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49, season-to-date.
Tosh has extended his relationship with Comedy Central into animation as well. The network recently ordered a third season of cartoon Brickleberry, on which Tosh serves as both an executive producer and a voice actor.
